ABC Nursery

Introduction:
The emphasis of the Club’s Nursery is on fun and learning Football
skills. Along the way we hope our club will reinforce the values that
will make the children lifelong members and will stand to them in every
day life: Fair Play, Team Work, Loyalty, Discipline and Dignity.

Nursery Ethos & Aims:
The ethos of the Nursery is ‘skills with fun’. In order to ensure that
this ethos becomes a reality we would hope to use the following
guidelines each week.

* The Nursery will run from September til June and sessions will be run
on a weekly basis at regular times with agreed holiday periods (such as
midterm, Christmas etc.) If for any reason a session cannot go ahead,
all parents will be alerted in advance.

* In the event of inclement weather, our indoor hall is available for use.

* Boys and girls are welcome.

* Groups are divided by age. However, in order to ensure children are
comfortable within the groups, skill level may be taken into account
also.

* Each session will typically consist of Warm-up (5 mins), Skill
Development (20-30 mins), Mini-games based on above skill (15-20 mins)
and Cool Down (5 mins)

The aims of the Nursery are:

* To introduce the child to the skills of Gaelic Football and so prepare
them for participation at competitive or recreational level as a player.

* To produce players who have a basic command of all fundamental skills.
Note: Ambidexterity will be a key focus in the coaching and both hands
and both feet will be concentrated upon in every routine in all
sessions.

* To develop balance, co-ordination and footwork.
